She’s not your average singer by any measure. In fact, when you hear Lisa Torres sing you hear the influences of Tammy Wynette, Eagles, Linda Rondstadt and Barbara Mandrell. The only thing really different about Lisa is her California roots. But I doubt fellow artists like Dwight Yoakum or Clint Black have a problem with that. A native of Castaic, California (just north of Los Angeles) Lisa began her musical training much as any other country artist. She sand in her church choir, performing in musicals and competing in singing competitions. Lisa attended college for a little while. She found her true gift of music was where her passion was. She returned to Castaic and started her own country band. In 2000 Lisa started writing songs. Working with a producer she released her own CD, “Take The Chance” on her own label, Big Sister Records. What’s more, she wrote four of the songs off that 12 song offering. In 2004 she decided to take the big first step by moving to Nashville. She says she met some amazing contacts at the Durango Songwriting Conference in Santa Barbara who inspired her to follow her dream to Music City. Of that experience she says, “Soon after, when I went to Nashville, I immediately felt at home."
