Commitment is a big part of making it in country music. There's not denying that. Looking at Matt Gary and the path he's taking to develop his musical dream into a reality shows the truth in that statement. Matt developed a deep love for music at a young age. Being brought up in Kansas City, he performed at school functions and events tin and around his hometown. Matt says it's been his life long dream to perform. Matt, while attending the University of Tampa, made frequent trips to Nashville in order to record his first demo. While burning up the interstate between the Gulf Coast and Music City, he became hooked and knew this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Upon graduating, Matt headed straight to Nashville. Once he was firmly established in the land of milk, honey and twang he hit the ground running, writing with many of Nashville's top songwriters. This eventually led him to Grammy nominated producer Kent Wells of Kent Wells Productions (Dolly Parton, Michael Peterson, Neal McCoy). Kent and Matt spent a lot of time together writing and developing a high energy, emotional style that is uniquely Matt. At that point the professional trail led him to entertainment executive Bernard Porter (President and CEO of Porter Consulting Group and COO of Porter-Gentry Productions). Recently Matt performed at Sea Ray Yachts 'Aqua Palooza' opening for Soul Asylum, Cracker and Everclear. He also generously donated his time and talent while opening for Windup Nashville's Eric Durrance (CMT Tour Artist) during a fundraiser for March of Dimes in Nashville. Matt admirably donated $1,000 of his own money. The event raised over $35,000 for the charity. Matt, while busy enjoying the fun work of getting his career going, does under the importance of performing the detailed tasks of getting a foundation under his musical career, as we see in his CyberCountry Vodcast feature preparing for CMA Fest 2009.
