You know when you hear her silky voice the song coming is either going to touch your heart or drive you straight to the stars. For a little over 14 years this Monticello, Georgia native has been giving back to country through a steady tour schedule and a string of hits. The trip into the inner workings of Music Row began at the south end of 16th Avenue South for Trisha as she attended Belmont University. She also worked as a receptionist for MTM Records and a demo singer while waiting for her big break. That break came when she she signed with MCA and recorded the tune 'She's In Love With The Boy'. This was followed by a line of 9 number ones. Trisha's had 10 MCA albums up to now, four Gold Record winners (The Sweetest Gift, Everybody Knows, Real Live Woman, Inside Out), four Platinum awardees (Hearts In Armor, The Song Remembers When, Thinkin' About You, Where Your Road Leads), a Double Platinum seller (Trisha Yearwood) and a Quadruple Platinum blockbuster (Songbook (A Collection Of Hits)). She's also been the Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year in 1997 and 1998. She's also earned three Grammys. In 1999 Trisha Yearwood was inducted into the cast of the Grand Ole Opry. Trisha's also shown her acting ability in the CBS Show 'JAG'. You will also hear her voice from time to time on soundtracks for movies. She's contributed her talent to Hope Floats, Stuart Little, Thing Called Love and Honeymoon in Vegas. Her voice has also added a little harmony to the CDs of such artists as Reba McEntire, Rodney Crowell, Brooks & Dunn, Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Vince Gill, Pam Tillis and Patty Loveless. Trisha's heart has led her to sing for charities like the War Children of Liberia Benefit concert in Italy. She says, "Singing gives me such joy. And it seems to give other people joy. It's what I believe I am supposed to do." Last week, with the posting of the ratings for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Trisha Yearwood marks her best-selling first week ever for a studio album with over 117,000 units sold for her newest album Jasper County, more than doubling her previous mark. Jasper County also made its debut at #1 on Billboard's Top Current Country Albums chart and #4 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart. For more on Trisha Yearwood go to: |
